Possible Issues

Respondents to Nino Walker's survey of our community's values and visions and others have identified the following school-related issues:

The region lacks a public high school. This requires that high school students for whom private school is not an option be transported to Honokaa, Kona or Kohala.
A safer option for student drop off and pick up is need at Waimea Elementary School and Waimea Middle School.
Widening of Mamalahoa Hwy in front of the elementary and middle school will eliminate parking and student drop off area.

Are there other issues?

What do current plans say?

To learn about how existing plans address the sidewalks vs. no sidewalks issue, please click on the following link:

Research is needed to find out what other current plans say about these issues. Any volunteers?
